Introduction to the Magic of Disney

Travelling with 2 family units is a whole new experience and one all grandparents probably have to learn to do at some time in their lives.  Alan and I typically jump out of bed and are on the first ferry heading into The Magic Kingdom.  But our daughter is more relaxed and this visit, and this day in particular, I tried to follow her lead.

First things first, waking early due to jet lag, we grandparents jumped in the car to buy food. This was meant to happen last night, but arriving 3 hours late messed this plan up!

We hit Walmart at sunrise and limited ourselves to 15 minutes of personal time before stocking up our food supplies, including Hazelnut Coffeemate.  This is one of those fantastic taste events that is a requirement when in the US.  You can purchase the powdered version, but the creamy refrigerated version is so much better!

A quick breakfast and then we were off to go in search of Mickey!

Needless to say, Corbyn seemed to be overwhelmed and unsure of it all.  It was not until we took the jungle cruise that he seemed to get in the swing of this magical place.

He also informed us he did not want to do any roller coasters, oops!  We got him on Thunder Mountain, in good faith on my part anyway - I had it confused with another ride.  But once the ride started, Corbyn screamed with laughter the whole time and wanted to do it again.  So much for his principles!

Our only sighting of Mickey today was in the show at Cinderella's Castle, so I was not able to give him the messages so many people asked me to!  I will keep looking for him though!

We did Pirates of the Caribbean and another pirate themed ride, plus the required "It's a Small World".

He also rode the big carousel and really liked that.

After such a long day the day before, this was about all the fun we could handle. And we were expecting a special guest, so we called our first day short about 4:30 and headed back to the villa.

Once my darling niece arrived, we ordered pizza and had a lovely evening.  Corbyn took to his cousin immediately and its as wonderful to see that cousin chemistry at work, even when the cousins are different generations!
