Hurray for Hollywood

Since Candi came down specially to spend time with us, we asked her to pick the parks while she was here. After a discussion of what we both were able to do, ticket wise, she chose Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom!  We visited Hollywood Studies on Saturday.  (I find it very difficult not to refer to this park as MGM!)

Before leaving for the park, we saw two birds like this one, and we now see them every day. But Corbyn had told us about the big birds yesterday.  Poor kid, we had not really understood that he meant BIG birds!

He calls them red headed McCranes.

This park was a great choice too - we saw old favourites like the Muppet Show, Indiana Jones  and Star Tours, plus the backlot tour.  Whitney and Charmaine were volunteers in the war scene and looked like they had a blast!  Literally - a plane "strafed" the ship they were on before a torpedo "hit" it.

Almost as soon as we got there, Corbyn asked for one of those fantastic big pretzels.  Both Candi and I were just waiting for him to realise he did not like it, they are always too salty.  And it didn't take long, but he decided to give it to his grandad!  Knowing he would not care for it either, we were like two vultures pouncing on him for it!  I wonder if it tasted better because we had to wait for that pretzel?

We also waited for what seemed like forever to do the Toy Story ride, but it was so worth it.  Fantastic fun, just a carnival kind of shooting targets - but really well done and good for any age group.

All day we were told about their Fantasmic evening show and encouraged to stay and make sure we didn't miss it. And so we did.  This is a huge production with computer generated scenes, all Disney characters represented, in person and on screen.  Illuminated boats with all the wonderful couples, like Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella and her Prince....and, of course, fireworks!  I personally was not that impressed though.  But maybe I was just too tired.  If I remember correctly, the seating area takes 10,000 folks.  If they are able to fill those seats twice a night, every night, it must be a great show!

Mickey at the end of the show!
